O desdobramento de helicópteros em áreas de desastres não é um assunto simples

Este é o assunto de um artigo do portal sul-africano Engineering News, usando o recente terremoto no Haiti como exemplo.

entities. They need fuel, lubricants, spares and maintenance equipment, including 
mobile workshops. When helicopters are 
deployed anywhere, all these things have to go with them.

And, of course, the machines need people to fly them and keep them operational – aircrew and ground crew. A squadron of a dozen utility helicopters, each capable of lifting 12 or so people plus crew, has a complement of between 120 and 150 personnel. And these personnel need food and water and medical backup

Não vou traduzir ou reproduzir todo o artigo todo, mas vale a pena lê-lo. Praticamente a mesma abordagem pode ser adotada para as operações militares, com um complicador a mais: o inimigo.
